The Archive

A flattened can of C-Rations. A sewing kit. A street map of Luxembourg. Handwritten letters home. A wallet-sized photo of camouflaged artillery pieces. These are just a few of the thousands of items in the growing Ghost Army archive, established to serve as a central and comprehensive repository of primary source materials about the Ghost Army.

The Ghost Army archive contains both physical items, such as photographs, letters, maps and artifacts; and an even larger digital collection that includes more of those items as well as documents, video interviews and oral histories. You can find an overview of our collections here.  We have also  published our collection list to a Google Sheet, enabling you to browse the collection or search for specific items. We plan to post other finding aids in the near future. Eventually, our plans call for donating the archive to a major research institution so these materials will always be preserved and available to researchers.
